In 2017 I was head of marketing at platform magazine. Working closely with the Editor-In-Chief, after three years of hiatus, we bought platform back to life and now we have over 80 members, constantly post online and print every term. Being Head of marketing I was responsible for all of our social media, funding the magazine by connecting with local businesses and in charge of distribution to all three campuses.

Working with Platform Magazine has been one of the best, defining experience at NTU. I have learnt a lot and enjoyed the developments I have made both personally and professionally.

cropped-platform-logo-transparent-background-3Beyond my university course, I have been involved in many extra activities that the university has provided. pictured below is me winning ‘best social media campaign’ for the Institute of Directors (IoD) £10 Business Challenge, raising money for John Van Geest Cancer Research.

Other activities include PwC business challenge and this year I will be entering the Thinkubator challenge, helping to solve challenges for local businesses.

Another memorable experience in which have planted my passion for sustainability in a professional setting was taking part in Sustainability in Practice Certificate (SIP)  where I worked on case studies on how entrepreneurial businesses are taking on the problem of waste in our society.

My degree has been intellectually stimulating, I have enjoyed the educational structure at universities. This has helped me to learn at a much quicker pace than ever before. Highlights are my presentation on perception in the second year where I got a Mid-First and my case study on IBM Watson in the first year in which I got a High-First. In my third year, I achieved an exceptional first in my dissertation on Mobile Augmented Reality (MAR). Also a high first in a retail consultancy challenge where suggestions were based on sustainable development.

Over the summer of 2018, I did a Summer marketing Internship at Kidzania London. It learnt a lot and worked with such great people. It was an incredible internship, what I got most out of it was an interest in event marketing and creating memorable experiences in any marketing activity.

For the last two years of University, I was a Residence Assistant (RA) for first-year student accommodation. Being an RA means that I help with the welfare of students when first coming to university. I can signpost students to relevant student services throughout the university. Another part of my job is to organise, lead and promote events that RA’s put on at the accommodation.

Starting in the third year of university, I have been accepted to being a part of the student team at TopTask. Toptask is a platform to “outsource home and office tasks to talented and vetted university students”. For Toptask, I do remote tasks like social media posting and website design.
